Description

The Rocky Mountain Altitude 750 MSL is an all mountain rig dripping with performance features. From its carbon and alloy frame, to its plush Fox suspension, this bike is ready to tackle the gnarliest trails. A SRAM drivetrain tackles locomotion, while parts from Avid, Race Face, and Sun Ringle round things out.

Giant's Trance SX 27.5 is a trail bike with extra attitude. This bike features a bit more suspension travel than its Trance siblings (up to 160mm), so it is ready for crazy times on really gnarly mountain courses. The bike has a lightweight alloy frame and smooth Fox suspension, allowing it to travel tough mountain trails going up or down. Shimano handles shifting tasks, and parts from KMC, Schwalbe, and Giant add performance. A Giant factory wheelset finishes this beauty off.

Up, down, and around the mountain...that's what the Trek Remedy 8 27.5/650b likes to do best. This capable trail bike features a light and tough aluminum frame and a custom-tuned Fox Evolution suspension setup. Big hits and rough terrain are no problem for this trail beast. Shimano SLX and Deore XT components make up the drivetrain, and parts from FSA and Bontrager finish it off. Tubeless Bontrager wheels keep this bike rolling on the toughest trails.

Lapierre's Zesty AM 527 offers all-mountain enthusiasts a rig capable of tackling anything you can throw at it. This surefooted bike features a carbon mainframe and alloy rear triangle. Fox or Fox/RockShox E:i suspension setups offer incredible handling on rough mountain trails. SRAM and Shimano components take care of shifting, and parts from SDG, Easton, Race Face, and Schwalbe add performance. A Race Face wheelset is the crowning touch here.

Features

SMOOTHWALL™ Carbon: By using a rigid internal mold as opposed to traditional air bladders, SMOOTHWALL™ eliminates any excess resin or fibers, resulting in the stiffest, lightest construction possible. Multiple types of carbon placed in specific locations maximize stiffness and impact resistance while minimizing overall weight.

ABC™ Pivots: Our Angular Bushing Concept (ABC™) pivots rotate on a tapered alloy insert, eliminating binding.

They weigh less than half the weight of a typical bearing system — 20 grams lighter per pivot, for 120 grams of weight savings on a six-pivot frame. ABC™ Pivots are also twice as stiff as typical bearing systems and require less maintenance to boot!

SMOOTHLINK™ Suspension: Our patented SMOOTHLINK™ Suspension design keeps suspension fully active and reduces pedal-bob. Designed to shine on singletrack climbs, it stays active-yet-neutral to maintain traction while climbing.

By placing the rear chainstay pivot above the rear axle we keep the average chain torque line parallel to the lower link (the line between main pivot and rear pivot); this widens the gear range where pedaling neither compresses nor stiffens the suspension. It also allows us to fine-tune our bikes' end-stroke characteristics, preventing riders from blowing through travel and experiencing harsh bottom-outs.

Ride-9™ System: Riders come in all sizes and ability levels, and the terrain they ride varies. Our patent pending RIDE-9™ System enables the rider to customize geometry and suspension rate to their riding style and weight.

Nine possible geometry and suspension rate configurations are possible thanks to two interlocking chip inserts. By moving the shock mount-point forward, the geometry slackens and the suspension rate becomes more progressive, giving greater bottom out resistance for more aggressive trail riding. When you move the shock backwards, the geometry becomes quicker and the suspension more supple for better climbing traction and ripping on technical singletrack.

When you move the shock mount-point upwards, it requires a higher air pressure to support the rider at sag. This is beneficial to lighter riders, allowing them to ride “in the sweet spot” of the shock, and not wind up with an under pressurized shock, which feels overly harsh. Conversely, when you move the shock downwards, a heavier rider does not need as much air pressure, increasing shock and seal durability, and keeping the damping range usable.

FORM™ Alloy: Each FORM™ tube that we create is engineered for its specific purpose within the frame, ensuring optimized strength, weight, and ride quality.

FORM™ tubesets utilize premium materials to meet our strict requirements.

Overdrive 2:
As the first manufacturer to bring the tapered headtube to market - with the 2006 Glory mountain bike - Giant knows a thing or two about inventing solutions for improved steering precision. The original OverDrive technology resulted in groundbreaking stiffness-to-weight ratios, and now Giant is doing it again with an all-new standard: OverDrive 2.

Maestro Suspension:
From Gravity off-road riding to XC/Race there’s a Giant Maestro Suspension bike to suit every riding style. The standard-setter for modern bicycle suspension, Maestro is the full-suspension platform used on every Giant performance mountain bike. Ranging from 4 to 8 inches of travel, Maestro improves the ride on any type of trail.

ALUXX SL:
Extremely lightweight framesets featuring high-performance strength-to-weight ratios.

Active Braking Pivot (ABP): Other full suspension systems firm up under braking, reducing your control when you need it most. Trek’s patented Active Braking Pivot solves that by keeping your suspension active whether you're on the brakes or off. The ABP axle is fully convertible between 142x12 and 135x5 standards, offers easy wheel installation, and is at least 20% stiffer than any open-dropout design.

Alpha Platinum Aluminum: Our premium lightweight aluminum is continuously cold extruded and butted at multiple points for ultimate weight reduction and superior strength. Frames built with Alpha Platinum are hydroformed to create the most sophisticated shapes for the lightest weight, and are finished using Trek's smooth-weld finishing process.

Press-Fit Bottom Bracket: Press-fit BB is a bottom bracket shell that allows the bearings to press into the frame rather than threading in as on standard bottom brackets. This provides a wider stance for the frame’s tubing juncture, resulting in a stronger frame. This wider stance also mimics the benefits of an OCLV Carbon-only technology, BB95.

Full Floater: Most suspension systems attach the bottom of the shock to a fixed frame mount. That fixed mount can contribute to a harsh ride. We solved that with Full Floater, attaching the shock to two moving linkage points so it can better respond to bumps across a wide variety of terrain. It feels like more travel, but it's not. It's smarter travel.

EVO Link: EVO Link is Trek’s evolution of the rocker link from the plate-and-bolt style used on most suspension bikes to a one-piece rocker link. This lighter link provides a stronger connection point between the front and rear triangles, creating a stiffer frame for greater control with minimal weight.

DRCV: Most full suspension air-shock bikes use small-volume canisters for pedaling efficiency. Unfortunately, they don’t have the best big-hit control. Others use less efficient, larger volume shocks, or complex multi-shock systems with cumbersome controls. Our solution: Dual Rate Control Valve (DRCV) technology. One shock, two chambers, no compromise. DRCV seamlessly adjusts its air volume based on the size bump you encounter. You get supple feel on the small bumps, seamless control over midsize bumps and harsh hits with less rear-wheel hang-up, and seemingly bottomless travel on the rough stuff so big hits seem to disappear. All this, with the pedaling efficiency of a small-volume shock.

E2 Tapered Headtube: E2 is the evolution of the traditional 1-1/8" headset to a tapered head tube, fork, and headset system. E2 tapers from a 1.5" lower to a 1-1/8" upper headset to provide more material where it matters most, resulting in a stronger, lighter frame with point-and-shoot control.

Dropper post internal routing: Not ready for an internally routed dropper post now, but want to keep your options open? Select frames are equipped with the proper entry and exit points to accommodate internal routing for a Stealth seat post.

ISCG Mounts: International Standard Chain Guide mounts offer easy chain guide installation and adjustment.

Mino Link Adjustable Geometry: Mino Link is an adjustment link located on the EVO Link that allows you to fine tune head tube angle by 1/2° and BB height by up to 10mm with the simple turn of a nut. Just flip the link to choose between slack or slacker geometry, without negatively affecting suspension performance.
