The 2017 Shimano Ultegra group is a high-end road group. A venerable player in pro racing, Ultegra is rock-solid, providing clean, quick shifts, a stable, efficient driveline, and precise braking control. The current edition includes a choice in braking: hydraulic disc brakes paired with dual control levers incorporating fluid reservoirs or traditional calipers and mechanical levers. The calipers are some of the best rim brakes available today, providing excellent modulation; if you're not ready to go disc, Shimano has you covered. The pedals are solid, providing a sturdy platform and efficient power transfer; cranks are Hollowtech, light and stiff; chain, rings, and cassette work smoothly and quietly together; and both the short- and long-cage derailleurs provide even shifting throughout the range.
