Loctite Bike Parts & Accessories
Loctite is a manufacturer of solvents, adhesive, sealants, and surface treatments. The bike mechanic's friend, Loctite's threadlock adhesives are found in professional and amateur workshops everywhere, 'red' and 'blue' having distinct purposes. Today Loctite manufactures a panoply of useful items for cyclists. Loctite products can be found in hardware stores anywhere in the world.
Started in 1956 by professor Vernon Krieble, Loctite's first product was one that is manufactured to this day, its namesake threadlock compound. Rapidly expanding on the huge success of its first product, American Sealants, Krieble's company, changed its name in 1963 to the Loctite Corporation, over the years adding a large number of different products to its portfolio, including the Eastman-developed cyanoacrylate Super Glue.
In 1997 Loctite was wholly acquired by the German giant Henkel. Loctite continues to operate independently, manufacturing its useful solvents and sealers for mechanics and handymen of all stripes.
The current Loctite catalogue offers a number of useful fix-its for the bike. Its super glue is ace for small tire cuts; anti-seize compound keeps seatposts from permanently bonding with seat tubes; and the threadlock keeps small parts from loosening, from brake cable binders to chainring bolts.
Loctite is a staple of every bike mechanic's kit. Over-torque no more; invest in some blue Loctite today.
