Casati Cycles Bike Parts & Accessories
Casati Cycles, or Cicli Casati, is a custom road racing frame manufacturer. Their catalogue consists of a handful of models in steel, aluminum or carbon, the beginning of the voyage to the final perfectly-made racing frame. Over 90% of Casati's bikes are made specifically for a customer. Turnaround from order to delivery, for a U.S. customer, is between four and six weeks, an astonishing rate of production for a seven-person shop; Casati produces around 1250 frames per year.
Frames are available in half-centimeter increments from 49 to 70 cm. A customer will typically visit Casati, climb aboard the fitting bike, and ride while adjustments are made at the direction of Gian Luigi Casati, the grand old man himself. When fitting is complete, the glorious construction begins. Casati lays out frames with exceptional precision before any joining process is started, makes its own lugs, and precisely inspects the finished frame.
Casati began in 1920, founded by Pietro Casati. Its entire history has been one of custom frame manufacture, on a small scale with exquisite results. The third generation, Luca Casati, is hard at work in the shop today, perfecting his knowledge of the intricacies of handmade road frame construction; someday Gian Luigi may choose to end his over six decades in the shop.
A Casati is no pretty antique. Designs, materials, and methods are always on the cutting edge; in 1995 Casati developed its own completely internal cable routing setup. Their digital frame inspection table is the first of its kind. Casati draws its own carbon tubing. Tomorrow Casati will further explore the future.
While far too small to sponsor a major professional team, Casati once sponsored hometown-bred world champion Gianni Bugno, and today offers bikes, technical support and wisdom to the riders of NGC Perrel-Casati, the Lampre development team.
Casati makes exceptional handmade road frames for extraordinary rides. Ride a dream from Casati.
