Even though I don't ride BMX I've always enjoyed watching footage of skilled riders performing all manner of extreme tricks and crazy stunts. There are plenty of great riders out there trying to push the envelope further and pull off the next big trick; as a result there is also a lot of footage available.
I grew up with surfing and I found a similar thing going on there. After a while even the biggest barrel at Pipe got a little ho-hum, so next we were seeing Teahupoo which is North Shore Hawaii on steroids....when that wasn't enough along came the yearly contest for footage of the biggest wave riding in the world.
That is why I love this BMX video of Tate Roskelley. He may not be pulling off the biggest tricks the world of cycling has ever seen, nor are they the most death defying fearless stunts that make you want to close your eyes and hope he makes it. What makes Tate great is his ability to think outside the box and use the street environment creatively. He is like the Andy Goldsworthy of sculpture, and as such deserves our undivided attention.
This has been my favourite BMX video for a long time. Enjoy!
