For a typical cycling fan the Paris-Roubaix needs little introduction. The "Queen of the Classics" is fought out every year on the rough and cobbled roads of northern France; the same roads that Napoleon used to cross this landscape many centuries earlier. In fact it would probably be easier negotiating some of these roads by horse than bicycle; such is the condition of the surface.

The sacrifices, suffering and struggle are rarely witnessed.
This video gives an insight into what goes into riding this race and the dedication from all involved. It also shows the type of race Paris-Roubaix is; when being in a good position can all come undone with a single crash. Thanks to Orica GreenEdge for sharing this story.
