Road Race

  1. Marianne Vos (Netherlands) Giant Envie Advanced
  2. Emma Johansson (Sweden) Scott Contessa Foil
  3. Rossella Ratto (Italy) Scott Contessa Foil

Defending Champion Vos has now gone back to back in the elite women's road race, winning in Florence in a convincing fashion. The sprint for second came 15 seconds after Vos had crossed the line.

Men

  1. Rui Costa (Portugal) Pinarello Dogma 65.1
  2. Joaquim Rodriguez (Spain) Canyon Aeroad CF
  3. Alejandro Valverde (Spain) Pinarello Dogma 65.1

We have also created a comparison of the top road bikes of this year's road race.

Rui Costa capped off a brilliant year with a rainbow jersey, proving too strong in very difficult conditions in Florence. Bad weather and crashes decimated the field. Cadel Evans reported overhearing in the radiology unit:

"If all the riders are here, who's in the race?"

A tough day indeed! The champions have been crowned, keep an eye out for them in the peloton next year wearing the rainbow jersey and riding some of the most advanced bicycle's currently available.
